December 31st - New Years Eve

Tonight while you are celebrating the end of 2016...send a 'salut' to our very own Christopher Merret.....the man who put the fizz into sparkling wine and champagne...thirty years before our friends in France !...and he was born in Winchcombe in 1614
With fingers crossed ,next year 2017, Winchcombe will get it's first blue plaque in honour of our very own Mr Merret. His home still stands in Winchcombe and is owned by a local family who are kind enough to say yes to a plaque being fitted onto their home. ...Jean Bray and myself are now sorting out the planning permission .

Mixed traction Christmas Cracker

A steam and diesel Gala at GWR Toddington....The engines travel to Winchcombe Station where you can pop and have a coffee at the Coffeepot tea room, then back on a train to Cheltenham Racecourse. A great day out for all the family.
Ps If you don't want a train ride today why not pop up to the tea rooms for a slice of cake and a trip back to memory lane, If you are a fan of Father Brown then you might recognise some of the station.
